Wendy Schicktanz
Wendys interest in photography began when she was a
child and her father showed her how to use his manual Nikon camera.
Her first real exciting experience with the camera came when she was
eleven years old and photographed a regional high school track meet
for her dad (who was a coach) from the track field. After she saw the
slides of the action shots she had taken, she was hooked.
As she grew up, she began experimenting with double
exposures and black and white film. When she purchased a new camera while
working as an underwriter for the Regional Farmers Insurance Group office,
she quickly earned the title of Department Photographer. One of her photos
taken during her employment at Farmers Insurance for the Drive Smart
Colorado Springs campaign was published in the Gazette Telegraph.
However, motherhood took over and she turned to taking
artistic snapshots of her two children, while still dabbling in the
creative side of photography. Her actual career in photography took off after
a season of photographing numerous boys on a local All Star baseball team
for which her son played. When she was asked to photograph other members of
the boys families, she had no idea that her business would be started and
her future forever changed. While her interest and specialty at that time was
with sports/action photography, it quickly changed to portraiture.
Wendy enjoys photographing children and families, but her real
passion is with high school seniors. She strives to create something very
personal and meaningful that is both artistic and timeless -- portraits that
evoke emotion and tell a story. She is blessed with the ability to make a
connection with, and relax her clients, helping them to reveal their individual
uniqueness in their portraits. Working out of her home studio in the Briargate
area, she feels very fortunate to be able to have her business and her family
all centered in one place.
Wendy is certified by, as well as a member of, the
Professional Photographers of America. Her galleries can be viewed on
her website.
