Principles of Money
for Photographers
Concepts To Make Artists More Financially
Successful by Norman Rehme in November
Norman has two careers. He is a talented photographer
and a financial professional. This basic program blends
his two worlds to assist photographers with basic financial
concepts applicable to all.
Norman has over 20 years of experience in
the financial field. He is now a senior trust officer with
First National Bank in Fort Collins, Colorado. He assists
individual and corporate clients with their trusts, investment
accounts, and retirement plans -- making him responsible
for accounts totaling more than $150 million. His specialty
is in the design and implementation of retirement plans.
Photographically, Norman is a Photographer
of the Year for the Professional Photographers of Colorado.
He has two Fuji Masterpiece awards and one Kodak Gallery
award. Many other trophies greet his photographic clients
at his home studio office.
"Principles of Money for Photographers"
is a lighthearted, interactive program to discuss simplified
concepts of money that sometimes elude even the sophisticated
and financially astute. Often, photographers are so worried
about f/stops and appointments and employees and sales that
they forget about their personal financial situation. Many
of Norman's tips bring difficult topics to a common level
for everyone.
This program is NOT several things. It is
not a sales presentation. Norman is a salaried employee.
It is not complicated. Norman's years of speaking experience
have taught him how to keep it simple. It is not for any
Harvard lawyer -- he has pictures!
See the "light" in both photography
and financial elements. Select the correct "speed"
of your financial film. Learn how to keep from losing money
"pixels." Avoid the 12 most common photo/financial
mistakes to insure a comfortable retirement in the future.

Well, I could start from the beginning but
let me tell you about the most special part of my life first
before I talk about photography (the second most important
thing in my life.) I live with my husband Randy and our
two beautiful girls Corryn and Mollie. Mollie is the newest
addition. We brought her home from the hospital on September
6th and feel very blessed as to how healthy not to mention
adorable she is.
We have called Colorado Springs our home for
about 8 years. We were both stationed out here in the military
and decided to stay. The mountains were too much to give
up.
Now as far as my history and future plans
in the field of photography well.... it all started when
I was in Jr. high and I received a good old Pentax K100
(which I still have and will probably never part with).
I had the time of my life taking candids of kids at school
for yearbook class. And then of course developing them in
a very tiny closet we used as a darkroom. It was then that
I found I had a love of photography and knew someday I'd
be a professional. I would say my favorite style of photography
is black and white portraiture. And even though he was known
for is incredible landscapes Ansel Adams has always been
a hero of mine. I mainly shoot 35mm with my Nikon at home.
I have a great time scanning them in to the computer and
working with them in Photoshop. Since high school I played
around with photographing family and friends.
A few years ago I was referred to Pat and
Terry Moore and was told that they belonged to a local photography
guild. So I took them up on the invite and attended my first
meeting. Since then my ambitions to become a Professional
Photographer have been put into overdrive. I now have a
goal to get my Certified Professional Photographer and eventually
become a Master Photographer. I also have been fortunate
enough to work for the Moores at the Family studio and I
love what I do. I have been introduced to the world of digital
photography and have found it to be fascinating! This past
year I have entered prints for the first time in regional
and national print competitions and have been granted my
first merits. It has been very rewarding. I am also proud
to say that by entering my first print case I received a
Judge's Choice award from Duncan McNab. I am very excited
about where my career in photography is taking me and I
must say I owe most of it to the Moores and this Guild.

Congratulations to all the winners of the
PPoC Print Competition. The Guild was well represented at
this competition and even though not everyone won, the judges
gave good suggestions to all that asked, so at the regional
competition they would do better.
