New PPGCS Requirements

As photographers, we need to continue to strive to do the very best for our clients. Whether if be in customer service, photographing the needs of the client or just making them feel very comfortable and special at that given time. Not only will it make their day, it will make yours too. I think I get as much satisfaction when a client thanks me for beautiful and creative work as the client does. Set your standards high and review your progress weekly. As a member of PPGCS, you're expected to set high standards. This leads me to my next thought, change is coming to PPGCS. In the next couple of months, the board will reveal new standards each member will be required to complete. These changes will be incorporated into the By-laws of PPGCS and will take affect in January 2006. If we are to be called the, "Professional Photographers' Guild of Colorado Springs" and affiliate of PPA National organization, then members will be excepted to achieve certain objectives and goals as members.

- Thomas Henn, PPA Certified, M.Photog., CR.

A message from the President

Happy 2006! This is already shaping up to be a great year for our Guild. We have dynamite speakers anxious to share their knowledge with us, and help us grow our business. We are looking forward to working together with the Professional Photographers of Colorado on two of their events. The first seminar will be this coming month, February 12-13. We will be meeting in Lone Tree Colorado for seminars and also have a REGIONAL print competition. Regional means that we will be able to see prints from Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Arizona, and Utah. If you want to see some awesome images, this is the place to be. The speaker's topics are 'Mastering the Light', with John Woodward, and 'The Wall Portrait Workshop, portraiture as personalized home furnishings', with Ken Whitmire. Contact www.ppcolorado.com for more information registration, and directions.

I would also like to take this time to express a sincere THANK YOU to the 2005 board of directors. You did an awesome job. The new look of PPGCS is great, and we should all look forward to a great year of education and networking.

As many of you know, Chris Waldron has stepped down as our executive director of PPGCS. Chris has dedicated 16 years to making this group a great success, and recognized around the country as a unique and well-organized group. To Chris and the original founders of this group, our thank you cannot begin to express our gratitude for all you have done. You gave us a terrific foundation to grow upon. THANK YOU!!!

I look forward to seeing many of you at the February meeting in Lone Tree (South Denver), and at the next local meeting on March 16, at View Point.

PPGCS President,
Pat Moore, Cr.Photog., PPA Certified

PS - Anyone is welcome to attend our regular board meetings. They are usually held on the Tuesday morning following our Thursday meeting. The next board meeting will be February 21, 2006 at 7:30am at THE FAMILY STUDIO.
