Preparing your
prints for Print Competition
Many of our PPGCS members are
a little fearful or lack the knowledge on what it takes
to prepare for a major Print Competition. For the March
meeting, Pat Moore and Tom Henn, will discuss preparing
your print for competition. This will include rules, mounting,
thickness, sizing, titling, and all the things that will
give you the edge towards creating a merit print. How you
create that final product can be the difference between
a 78 or an 80. Each year at least one print is disqualified
after it had received an 80 or higher for a merit. That
again happened at the 2003 RMPPA Print Competition. We don't
want our members to fall victim to that problem.

Winners
The convention and print competition
this year was just outstanding. If you weren't able to come,
it was probably one of the best they have ever had. With
speakers like; Jeff Lubin, the Duenkel's, the Maring's Doug
Box, Sandy Puc and Dave Junion. They were there to help
you in all avenues of your photography. Next year the convention
moves back to Colorado Springs, and this is an event you
just don't want to miss because it can really spring board
your business.
At the convention this year one
of our PPGCS members was the only person to receive their
PPA Certification pin during the awards banquet. Heather
Sams from The Family Studio is the latest Guild member to
complete all the requirements needed to be certified. Congratulations
Heather for doing a great job here. Colorado has the highest
number of PPA Certified photographer's (25%) in the United
States.
The Guild was well represented
in the Print Competition, with many of our members scoring
80 or higher to receive a merit for the print they entered.
Our members should be very proud of how this organization
consistently does at the regional competition. The following
are the award winners from RMPPA and Tom C. Henn and Mary
Lynne Ashley, are first time entries to the regional competition.
