A message from the President...
We owe a big thank you to Sally
and Mark from Accent Photo for the great tour and the use
of their facility for our last meeting. (Yummy snacks, too).
We also greatly appreciate Sally's donation of two wonderful
door prizes. I think everyone there learned something useful
about Accent's capabilities.
Another big thank you to Wilson for his presentation.
I am sure that we will be referring a lot more business
to him after seeing what great things he can do to compliment
the "still" photographers in our group. It was
very interesting to see what a different perspective a videographer
works from.
I hope everyone has their competition
prints ready for our competition on September 18th. Remember
that we do not compete against each other's work. We are
competing to meet the standards set forth by PP of A. Please
don't be afraid to enter a particular category because you
think that your work is not as good as someone else's. Judges
are not allowed to compare one artist's work against another's.

DAVE SAMPLES
MASTER PHOTOGRAPHER
OUR JUDGE
Dave Samples is a graduate of
Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs. He and his
wife Lisa are living proof that you can survive in a small
town and have a successful portrait studio. The Samples
have a studio on Main Street in Brush, Colorado. The studio
is a converted home....Yes they used to live there too.
Dave is also a Master Gardener.
You should see his outdoor (backyard) portrait area! He
photographs high school seniors, families, proms, sports
teams, schools, and just about every other need that a small
town has. He is active in the local schools and civic organizations.
Welcome to Dave..... and be kind to the judge!
September Member Profile:
Brian Molitoris
Some background on Brian Molitoris,
Photographer.
I've been involved in photography
since high school, and professionally, either
part
time or full time for about the last ten years. In high
school physics class, I found an article by Dr. Land in
the "Scientific American", May 1950, and learned
how to produce color images from B/W film. Hey! no digital
images!
All my photographic work is done
"on location" so my customers don't have to travel;
pack up children, load the van, worry about traffic. And,
I've met folks that are having WAY to much fun.
I continue to invest in my skills
by attending course and seminars on the topics of images,
modeling ,lighting*, posing, business practices, digital
imaging, and e-commerce among others. Multiple times at
MAIPP, and many times at PP Colorado Programs and ongoing
education at the monthly Guild programs.
PPGCS
is still the best value for me. Great people, great Ideas
and a good community.
Continuing photographic education
contributes to my training, new ideas, new products, marketing
ideas and services. Programs I have attended include Lori
Rose, Rick Avalos, Don Emmerich, Chris Waldron, Terry Moore,
Karen Rubin, Jack Avalos, among many others.
I use film for image "capture"
and digital for most everything else. I recently bought
Adobe Photoshop 7; kinda like learning to fly an F-15. Good
program, but lots to learn.
I'm thinking right about here
you expect to see a long list of accolades and awards.......................

PPA and NAPP Team Up to
Offer Members More
ATLANTA, Ga.-Professional Photographers
of America (PPA) and the National Association of Photoshop
Professionals (NAPP), the two largest imaging associations
in the world, today announced the formation of an alliance
that will bring added strength and direction to the imaging
industry. Resources shared between the two organizations
will provide members with better educational opportunities,
a broader view of the industry, and an even richer benefits
package.
Both PPA and NAPP are trade organizations
serving professional and high-end amateur photographers,
yet they remain distinct enough to avoid competition. A
partnership among the groups will allow for greater collaboration
without the threat of cannibalization, benefiting members
as well as the market in general.
PPA Director of Strategic Alliances
Scott Hersh and NAPP Chief Operating Officer David Moser
solidified the relationship and are confident in the progress
that will follow. "This agreement will allow PPA and
NAPP to share ideas, implementing only the freshest and
most useful concepts for our members," Hersh said.
Moser commented, "The PPA-NAPP partnership confirms
the growing role technology continues to play in our industry.
As PPA and NAPP strategize about future plans, our members
will benefit by staying at the forefront of emerging market
trends."
Initial benefits associated with the agreement
are:
Discounted access for the members
of each organization to the many benefits, conferences,
trade shows and more offered by PPA and NAPP
Discounts on dual-association memberships
A guaranteed presence for each
organization at the Imaging USA and PhotoshopWorld conventions
(organized by PPA and NAPP, respectively)
About PPA
PPA, a worldwide association, exists to assist
its more than 14,000 members in achieving their professional,
artistic, and fraternal goals; to promote public awareness
of the profession; and to advance the making of images in
all of its disciplines as an art, a science and a visual
recorder of history. For more information about PPA, visit
www.ppa.com.
About NAPP
The National Association for Photoshop Professionals
(NAPP) is a dynamic trade association and the world's leading
resource for Adobe® Photoshop® training, news, and
education. It is led by a world-class team of Photoshop
experts, authors, consultants, and trainers who keep members
on the cutting edge of Adobe Photoshop techniques and technology.
With more than 30,000 members in 107 countries, NAPP is
