A message from the President

For our members that came to the PPGCS special monthly meeting held in Denver on the February 13th, I know this day long seminar really kicked started your marketing planning strategy for the whole year. It did for me; I have pages of notes and have already implemented some of the teaching of Greg Stangl. This one meeting was worth the year's renewal membership. We need to thank Chris Waldron, our Executive Director for pulling this off for the guild. Chris worked hard with Tom Hissong the Executive Director of PPC to do a joint effort, so in affect it was a win-win for both PPGCS and PPC.

PPG's President,
Thomas J. Henn, PPA Certified, M.Photog

MOUNTAIN RANGES OF COLORADO

More than 15 years ago John Fielder published his first book on Colorado's wilderness areas. Since then he has published many other books celebrating Colorado's wild places and open spaces. Fielder's commitment to preserving Colorado's natural landscape is undying. On this, the 40th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act, he has now published another magnificent tribute to Colorado's pristine wild areas, Mountain Ranges of Colorado.

Fifteen years in the making, these images were created on the most remote and strenuous backpacking excursions of Fielder's career. This tribute to Colorado's mountains is a must for Fielder fans and lovers of the Colorado mountain experience.

Member Profile:
Lee Miller

Lee Miller lives in northeast Colorado Springs with Lynda and his four daughters. He recently took his photography full-time. He enjoys photographing weddings because meeting people energizes him and he loves the creative opportunities. He teaches photography to children and adults at several schools, including District 11 community education. He volunteers teaching blind and disadvantaged children with an organization called Kamera Kids.

Lee is retired from the Navy where he served as a photojournalist from 1982-1983. He received a certificate of completion in 1990 from the New York Institute of Photography. He has studied the high speed photography of pioneer Harold Edgerton and received an international award for a twenty minute physiogram called “Night Landing, Adak Alaska” and a two minute physiogram called “Dance of Lights”

Lee loves adventure. At age sixteen he crossed America on a bicycle. He raised $10,000 for the children of Guam Island by roller skating 100 miles. Lee has graduate work in cartography and loves to make maps. He has crossed 300 miles of Colorado on foot and dreams of crossing all of America on the American Discovery Trail. He was also a radio announcer.

Lee’s business name is “A Touch of Color Photography” This name came from seeing a children’s sticker showing an angel painting rainbows. His short term goal is to mentor with someone very experienced in portraits and weddings. I plan to complete my Certificate of Professional Photography this year. He says, “I am passionate about photography. I am mastering wedding photography and developing an outstanding curriculum for making photography fun for children. I have a strong sense of wonder and excitement for the beauty I see in people and creation.
