A message from the President

In our next coming meeting for May 19th, we will be having a print critique of our members images. It's designed to help in several ways. First and normally the question everyone asks is, "How's my photography?". This critique will answer that question and ways you can improve your images which will allow you to receive a better income for your work. If you're considering entering Print Competition, this will be an important part of that process. People like myself can give advice on whether that print has a chance in making a score of 80 or above.

So, what do you need to do for the print critique? Just bring a work print (it does not need to be printed on glossy or special paper) that is 8x10 or larger. They do not need to be mounted. You may bring up to 5 prints to be reviewed by the panel. Remember, our goal is to help improve your photographic work and advance you to the next level of photography. I look forward to seeinga lot of prints this month from our new members.

PPG's President,
Thomas Henn, PPA Certified, M.Photog. CR.

THE SAND DUNES PHOTOGRAPHY JAMBOREE

photo courtesy of the Great Sand Dunes Lodge

Come join us for a weekend of Fun and Photography. This is an informal rendezvous for all interested photographers and their families at The Great Sand Dunes National Park, May 20 - 22. Individual photographers and the following organizations are invited: Peak Digital Imaging Society, Pikes Peak Camera Club, The Professional Photographers' Guild of CS and The Circle of Confusion. This could easily be the largest photography event in the history of Colorado! Here are some details for the up-coming field trip to San Dunes May 20 -22.

The "Home Base" will be at The Sand Dunes Pool and RV Park (click here for a map) very near to the Sand Dunes. This small resort is pretty cool. My son and I checked it out last weekend. It has pools and hot pools and even a diving board (uncommon these days). There is a snack bar with burgers and treats and a small RV style campground. The campground has 10 large pull trough and plenty of room for tents. Two fire rings and several BBQs, VolleyBall, Basket Ball, Tetherball etc. etc. Kids are welcome. This place is kept very clean and the water in the pools is crystal clear.
http://www.sanddunespool.com/ We have the opportunity to reserve the entire campground for our groups.

Although this will be the group meeting place I have arranged for lodging at The Fort Garland Motor Inn in FortGarland for those who do not wish to camp. http://www.garlandmotorinn.com

the Great Sand Dunes Lodge

We will receive last year's off-season rates here and it is a very clean, quiet and comfortable place to stay. It's about 25 minutes from the dunes. Just mention the Photography Jamboree when making reservations.

In addition you may check out The Great Sand Dunes Oasis at: http://www.coloradodirectory.com/greatsanddunesoasis/
Or the Great Sand Dunes Lodge at: http://www.gsdlodge.com/

There are many other places in the surrounding area including Alamosa, CO.

All times and events are subject to change.

Annual Print Critique

This meeting is for everyone.! Bring your best 8x10 images and see how they measure up to the Professional Photographers of America standards. This helpful meeting will benefit everyone from the beginner to the professional. You’ll get tips on composition, lighting, and posing just to name a few.

The insightful critique is meant to help you see what could be done better so that you become a better photographer. Though the critique is subjective, the advice one receives is designed to better you as a photographer.

Don’t be shy. We as a group love photographs and would love to see what have been shooting.
