The Photo Guild would like to thank Accent
for the use of their facility for monthly board meetings.

A message from the President

I finally had a chance to read my ASP (American Society of Photographers) magazine. It was a newsletter. And now with its new look and extra pages it is a magazine. In case you’re not familiar with this publication, you must have earned a PPA degree such as Masters of Photography or Craftsman Degree to be invited to join this organization. You become humble real quick when you see the names of board members, directors and others of this organization. People like Dixie Laval, Roland Laramie, Harvey Goldstein, Doug Box, Don Emmerich, just to name a few. These people are world renown photographers who have made a mark in the field of photography and are respected by their peers.

In reading the bio on Dixie Laval she talks about a few mentors that have made a difference in her long career of photography. Mentors helped guide Dixie through the years helping her learn and improve her skills. As talented as this lady is, she still feels the need to learn and be mentored herself. This is a person who started entering PPA Print Competition sixteen years ago and every one of her prints has received a merit (score 80 or above). Additionally, Dixie’s work has been in Loan Collections and received numerous awards. That's incredible!!

We at PPGCS need to aspire to become better photographers and at the same time mentor others desiring to better their craft. I guarantee that by helping others, the reward will be two-fold. The person you help will greatly appreciate the knowledge they've learned and you will feel better about yourself.

PPGCS President,
Thomas J. Henn, PPA Certified, M.Photog

I am a third generation native of Colorado. I graduated high school in Buena Vista, Colorado and college from Colorado School of Mines. I have extensive business education, but lack a thesis for my MBA. I spent 4 ½ years in the US Army as an Army Officer and helicopter pilot.

My background lies in aluminum industry engineering, middle and executive level management in both the US and several overseas locations. Additionally, I have operated small metals business and was involved in upper level management of a high tech materials company. I retired from Kaiser Aluminum in 1997 and moved back to Colorado. I Joined SCORE as a volunteer counselor in mid 1999 and became Chairman of Colorado Springs SCORE chapter 206 in October 2002.

Member Profile

Chris Waldron and Waldron's Photography

Chris Waldron is the owner of “Waldron's Photography” in Colorado Springs. Operating in Dallas, Texas from 1984 to 1987, he moved the company to Colorado Springs in 1987 and it has been a very successful business ever since. Chris is the Executive Director of the Colorado Springs Professional Photographers Guild and past President of the Professional Photographers of Colorado in 1997 and 2000. He is a Certified Professional Photographer with Professional Photographers of America and is also a Photographic Craftsman. In October, Chris was honored to receive the “Colorado Award” given to him by the Professional Photographers Association of Colorado.

Waldron's Photography is now a 100% DIGITAL photography studio. Because of this, Waldron’s has acquired several talented and knowledgeable employees to help run the business and keep it in top form:

Janet Waldron, Chris’ wife and co-owner of the company, is in charge of marketing, sales & accounting. She has been with the company for twelve years.

Eric Murphy joined us in 2000, offering not only his digital photojournalistic photography skills, but also a much-needed technical application. He also runs the Waldron’s photographic lab. This is the age of electronics and Eric helps us offer special computer aided opportunities to our customers.

Jeremy Conrad has been with us since April 2002. He brings excellent computer skills and a talent for organization. So much of business, in general, and photography, in particular, is computer oriented. Jeremy helps us keep up with our customers' needs.

Laura Saulnier joined Waldron’s in April 2003. She is the production manager and has a unique flair for attention to detail in her work. She makes our customers happy when orders are perfect and on time.

If you have the opportunity, visit our website at www.waldronsphotography.com. You may contact us by email at studio@waldronsphotography.com. Also, Chris has recorded a commercial only viewable online. Check it out at www.coloradospringsnews.com/waldrons_bio.htm
