A message from the President

September’s meeting is PPGCS's Print Competition. We do it for two reasons, first, it’s your stepping stone to PPC print competition, which in turn will eventually ready you for the PPA international competition. If you want to improve your skills as a photographer, this will help you. The side benefit to all this is any awards you earn can proudly be displayed at your studio or stated on your web site. The second benefit and most important part of competition, is it improves your skills as a photographer which then allows you to receive a higher price for your work.

When the board plans the meeting schedule for 2005, we will most likely be moving next years print competition to an earlier date. This is due to the date changes with RMPPA (Regional affiliation) for 2005. More to come on that as we get the exact dates. This would mean the state competition for PPC would also need to change their convention and print competition dates. So the bottom line here is PPGCS is affected by all the stair step changes set to occur in the coming year.

In this newsletter, you will find the schedule for PPC Convention that will be held in Colorado Springs in October. This is a great opportunity for you to see great speakers and only have a short drive to the hotel. PPC board works hard to bring you quality programs at a reasonable price. You need to take advantage of these work shops held here in the Springs. For more additional information, you can go to www.PPColorado.com

One last item I'd like to bring up to our members and that is being part of the team. We have a lot of great talent sitting inside our organization and we need to draw from it. So the best way I know to do this is to have our members be part of the board for PPGCS. If you want this origination to grow and draw speakers from out of state, then you need to be part of this team of dedicated board members.

PPG's President,
Thomas J. Henn, PPA Certified, M.Photog
