New PPGCS Requirements

As photographers, we need to continue to strive to do the very best for our clients. Whether if be in customer service, photographing the needs of the client or just making them feel very comfortable and special at that given time. Not only will it make their day, it will make your's too. I think I get as much satisfaction when a client thanks me for beautiful and creative work as the client does. Set your standards high and review your progress weekly. As a member of PPGCS, you're expected to set high standards. This leads me to my next thought, change is coming to PPGCS. In the next couple of months, the board will reveal new standards each member will be required to complete. These changes will be incorporated into the By-Laws of PPGCS and will take affect in January 2006. If we are to be called the, "Professional Photographers' Guild of Colorado Springs" and affiliate of PPA National organization, then members will be excepted to achieve certain objectives and goals as members.

A message from the President

Now that most of the HS Senior season is over and the Professional Photographers of Colorado (PPC) Annual Convention is behind me, I can work on the next project to better improve PPGCS. More on that in a minute. As President, I'd like to say thank you to all that attended this year's PPC Convention and to all the winners of the print competition. The Guild was well represented in the awards category again this year and it's due to our strong commitment to our members. Congratulations to all who won awards. As Chairman of the print competition, it would not have gone as smoothly as it did had it not been for all the help I received from many of our PPGCS and PPC members. To all that contributed in any way, thank you for making such a success. You'll find all the winners in this newsletter.

PPG's President,
Thomas Henn, PPA Certified, M.Photog. CR.

November Meeting

At the November 17th meeting, the board plans on presenting highlights of the changes that will take place starting in January, 2006. The board, along with a special committee, has been put together to make Bylaw changes and set standards for 2006. One of the items to change next year will be the annual dues for all members. PPGCS has not raised its annual membership cost for 17 years, but has been able to provide quality speakers during this time. Our changes are to ensure we keep the highest photographic standards as guild members.

If you are interested in serving as a board member,
please contact Tom Henn. We are now accepting names for board positions.

HP LASERJET 2840mfp

It is perfect and has printed less than 200 pages. This is one of HP's hottest ticket items now and sells for $1,000. We have decided this is really overkill for what we need, and are going to go back to using our inkjet and scanner.

This is a network ready, full color laser printer/scanner/copier/fax. You can send scans as jpg or pdf to network folders or emails from the unit. You can also network fax. Very cool.
