About the Event
Whether a beginner or intermediate photographer, this course provides a simple structure and concepts to help understand lighting and how to shape it for impact. For those beginning in photography, you will gain practical and useful insight.
Master Photographer Jim Trapp will break down the aspects of lighting for a clear understanding and my setups. This will help sculpt specific muscle groups. Jim will also demonstrate how to bring out the emotions from a subject to create a story, expression, and impact in a portrait.
AM Hours - Each student will be hands-on with the models. Learn how to set lighting, meter each strobe, and work with the subject to pull out an impactful portrait.
PM Hours - The afternoon session will cover how to bring out the finest detail using photoshop to make the image pop off the screen. We will also cover printing your final work.
What to bring:
Camera and lens
Portable tripod (not required but helps for a very sharp image)
Light meter (if you're unsure how to use one, this is a great place to learn how to)
Laptop with the following software (Photoshop and NIK Filters*)
*If you don't have NIK, you can download a trial version. Jim will also show a work-around at the May 19th evening presentation.
